Obituary of Dorla Algeo
ALGEO, DORLA A. (DEE) (nee WADE) (84), of Galloway, NJ died peacefully at home Saturday July 15th
Mrs. Algeo was born in Gettysburg, Ohio. She graduated from East Side High School (Union City, Ohio) in 1951 and Miami-Jacobs College (Dayton, Ohio) in 1954 with a degree in accounting.
Dee had resided in the Absecon/Galloway area since 1960.
She married Richard D. Algeo on May 23, 1954. After the birth of their first son, Robin Wade, they
moved to New Jersey. They later had two more children, Richard Scott and Debra Lynn.
Dee's most important interests in life were her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren,
church and home.
She greatly enjoyed supporting her family in all their endeavors. Second to family came her lifelong
involvement in volunteer work. This included the Florence Crittenton Auxiliary, the Atlantic County
Volunteers, the Atlantic City Thrift Shop (sponsored by the A.C. Hospital Guild), and Contact Atlantic (14
yrs). Of all her volunteer efforts, Dee most fondly remembered her 20+ years as a Miss America Pageant
Dee was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Pleasantville where she served as an Elder and sang in
the choir for many years. She also held several offices in the Women's Assn. and Sarah Lydia Circle.
Once her daughter started high school, she went to work at the F.A.A. Technical Center, where for 14 yrs
she was employed as a Simulator Pilot Supervisor in the Air Traffic Control Simulation Facility. After
retiring in 1993, she and her husband enjoyed traveling, sometimes with family or friends.
Dorla was the daughter of the late Daniel Thomas Wade and Eunice Wellbaum Wade. She was
predeceased by her husband, Richard Dale and survived by her two sons, Rob (Maryann) of Galloway, NJ and Rick (Julia) of Millstone Twp., NJ and daughter Debbi Bock (Wayne) of Galloway, and a brother Chade Wade (Geraldine) of Union City, Ohio. She also leaves six beloved grandchildren Meghan Astel (Algeo), Amanda Lopez (Algeo), Deanne Algeo, Robert Algeo, Randall Bock, Brady Bock and two great
grandchildren Adrian Lopez and Graham Astel.
There will be no funeral service and interment will be at the convenience of the family. Later there will
be a Day-of-Celebration of Her Life.
